Can you resole rubber soled shoes?

Yes, rubber-soled shoes can be resoled. The process involves removing the old sole, cutting away the old rubber, heating the new rubber to the right temperature, and then gluing it in place. It’s a bit more complex than just replacing the outer rubber, but it does a great job of rejuvenating a pair of shoes.

However, shoes that use a cup sole typically can’t be resoled as the rubber cup outsole is permanently bonded to the leather uppers using cement, and removing it usually destroys the leather. So, if your shoes are feeling a bit worn out, don’t throw them away – give them a new lease on life with a resole!
